My name is Debora and I am 28 years old. I am doing a European voluntary service in Sweden in Gothenburg. It is the second largest city in Sweden after Stockholm, it is composed of several neighborhoods a bit like Marseille. I live in a neighborhood call Rannebergen.
I realize my volunteering at Kooperativet Fjället. It is a youth house open Monday to Saturday. Most of them just come to talk and hang out with their friends. They have the possibility of programming activities (evenings cinemas or video games, play ping-pong and do pastry workshops). Last week, they organized a Halloween disco party for local kids.
Since I’m here, I participated in training camp at the edge of a lake and I went to a trip to Liseberg amusement park for Halloween (I have often thought that I would fall hit the floor but in the end, I was very happy, it was so cool)
As far as I am concerned, I do not regret having come. It’s not always fun because of the language barrier, Swedish is a very complicated language. The youth were shy like me and do not dare to speak in English but they try a little more each day.
Hello this is Cyril and I´m gonna write the blog of EVS for the first week of march. This week was very sunny, and more warm to the other week before. We had three new workers in Fjället and it´s great.
Some new kids came and it´s great very nice to meet you, than we have many kids with different background, and they begin to exchange each other I like that. We try to play less ping-pomg and doing more activities, like playing cards for example. Some kids begin to come without any group of other kids maybe because they feel more confortable. I remember at the beginning it was like two or three kids in a evening, and now there is so many, I feel so accomplished of Jose and me. Some kids try to speak french to me its funny, I take pleasure to teach them, some of them are very interested about many things in the life its a very good sign they will go far.
So far what I think about my week, We need to give kids new passion, they need to open themselves to new thing to do.
Next week is gonna be a photo contest I hope kids will participate we offer a camera as a price. And we are trying to get more kids in the official facebook and instagram because its important. I was planning to going out with the kids but its not possible, for the moment. We gonna have a summer camp in april its great. I like summercamp maybe we will fishing. I think I will cook soon in Fjället. I cant wait to have the summercamp because I like to play outside we can play football for example. Maybe I can bring some kids to a football match, and there is a match soon between IFK and Malmo in the gamla ullevi. When the snow will disappear maybe we can play football outside because football make new friendship and this is a sport easy to play because you should just get a ball and you can put for example a bag in place of the post and you can use all place as a field it´s very easy to play but kids they don´t like that much to play football in sweden maybe its because this is cold outside and they used to play inside game in place of, we will this keep going this idea, and we will see if its different when its sunny
I think some kids like to cook so I can teach them some stuff that I know I will do that during a night.
About my life in Sweden I will go to Hungary and Slovakia soon, I can´t wait I will put the photo in the blog or maybe senor Jose will.
It’s Cyril again, and i twill be my writting for the evs blog for the period of 21th november until 28th november. It was not the most active week in my work, but we get some day off, good occasion to take à 24h nap. And, above all, to continue my visit of the north europa, next step, Norway.
But, for the beginning, let’s talk about my second project in my work (kooperativet fjället). It was a degustation of some crêpes, french speciality, honestly, it w as not so much a succees, for some reason :
- Maybe the communication around (my poster) was not so good, so we don’t get so much kids, (specials thanks to my bro Kim, always here in hard times)
- Unfortunatelly I missed a little my receipe, i’ve thinked about that, it was about flur (too much), but Kim get one of them and he told me that’s was good, so 10% succes it’s a beginning
Maybe for my next project i have to stay far from the kitchen, so yes it sounds good.
The rest of the week was some kind of quiet, i wish a good retablishment to our teammate jenny who’s sick. And hope she can get back soon.
So, now let’s talk about norway. It was amazing, and i’m thinking actually of organised a travel with kids, i need time to plan that good (and help plz), cause i twill be hard, and it have to be secure for kids. But I really want to do that, cause I know how travel can change you’re minds and open new horizons (especially for kids). And as Sven said « One of the goals of the kooperatvet fjället is to send the kids out of angered » maybe it was more about sending them to an EVS project, but I think it will be a good beginning, who can give the travel taste to the kids.
I was in Oslo during the week of 16 to 20th november. My challenge was to visited all the cool places without google map, with just a paper plan, and it was a succes.
First I visited the national opera, build in 2008, it’s a modern structure who takes place in a kind of new « city » of oslo, like we can find in London, or in Paris (La Défense). So it’s really amazing to see how modern architecture is combined with old building, but it was a bit weird. At least it was organised, not as I seen in Bucharest. The modern buildings take a special place in the city, so we can’t write about a « mix », it’s more an add-on.
After I visited the Akershus castle, and the museum of national army of norway
It was interesting, this was a resume of all war of norway, this country takes part in so much war it’s amazing. I see many many beautiful old weapons.
After crossing the city randomely, I finished to meet some graffers, and find a beautiful neighbourg similar to christiana in copenhagen. Governement of norway give them free wall to paint and express their mind, cool stuff.
Stay tunned, for new adventures ! hej da
